The management of KRGCEW is vested with Sree Narayana Guru Memorial Educational and Cultural Trust, Reg.No.A709/01, Thuravoor, Alappuzha. It is a registered Charitable Society, engaged in educational, social and cultural activities in accordance with the teachings of great sage and social reformer Sree Narayana Guru. The college come into existence by the inspiration of Smt.K.R.Gouri Amma, the former Minister of Kerala. It is with this immense experience and expertise that SNGM Trust started K.R.Gouri Amma College of Engineering for Women. The ultimate objective of the Trust is to contribute to the uplift and empowerment of women in general and rural women in particular, thereby strengthening all movements for social justice and gender equality.

Department of Civil Engineering
Civil Engineering was chosen as one of the branches in the college because of the growing demand for Civil Engineers. Civil Engineering is a discipline that deals with the design, construction and maintenance of the physical and naturally built environment, including works such as bridges, roads, canals, dams and buildings. Girls can very well opt for the branch and has got reasonable opportunities in the job market. The Department will be housed in a separate block. The teaching faculties of this department are well experienced with more than 30 years and having Doctorate degree and M.Tech.
Department of Computer Science & Engineering
The department provides extensive computing resources for research and education. The fully air conditioned computer lab includes more than 180 high performance computers. Sufficient original softwares are also provided for academic activities . The department has broadband Internet connectivity that is networked throughout the campus making internet available in the entire campus. The teaching faculties of this department are well experienced and having Doctorate degree and M.Tech.
Department of Electronics & Communication Engineering
In this branch students are introduced to the concepts of modern electronic devices, telecommunication, computer networking, control systems, micro-controllers etc. This department offers hands on training to the students to meet the requirements of the industry in well equipped and hi- tech laboratories with state of the art instruments and equipments under the guidance of highly qualified, experienced and dedicated faculty. The graduates of Electronics & Communication Engineering have easy access to many job opportunities in the fields of electronics and telecommunications industry, banking, computer manufacturing, software development, biomedical instrumentation, hardware designing and systems planning. The ECE labs are fully air conditioned.
Department of Information Technology
The department provides extensive computing resources for research and education. This includes more than 120 high performance computers. The teaching-learning process of the department focuses on laying strong foundations in fundamentals of Information Technology as well as providing training on cutting edge technologies as per the demands of industries. the department is committed to produce top-notch IT professionals tuned with skills essential for success in today's highly competitive and constantly changing IT sector. The teaching faculties of this department are well experienced and having Doctorate degree and M.Tech.
Applied Science Department
The Applied Science Department imparts to students the basic skills required to master the subjects of the electronic branch. The staff members of this Departments are class-advisors of the First Year students.
The sanctioned intake is 90 seats each in Civil Engineering and Electronics & Communication Engineering and 60 seats each in Computer Science & Engineering and Information Technology.
Admission will be conducted as per the regulations of AICTE and the Government of Kerala.
Admission under the Management quota is based on the rank secured by the candidate either at the Common Entrance Examination conducted by the Commissioner for Entrance Examination, Government of Kerala or at the Entrance Examination conducted by the Kerala Self-Financing College Managements’ Association and the marks secured for the Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics in Plus Two Examination and separate minimum of 50% marks for Mathematics.
NRI seats will be filled as per the Government norms.
Candidates provisionally selected for admission have to appear for an interview before the Principal / Director accompanied by Parent / Guardian on such dates and time as are individually notified or generally advertised. Candidates are to bring all certificates and other documents in original along with attested copies and six copies of Passport Size photographs at the time of the interview.
Candidates admitted under merit quota have to remit the fees as prescribed by the Government authority from time to time and the candidates admitted under Management and NRI quota have to remit their fees as approved by the Government of Kerala and Kerala Self-Financing Engineering College Managements’ Association from time to time.
Daily trips of college buses are available for the students and faculties from Alappuzha, Ernakulam and Kottayam covering all the nearby towns
Accommodation is provided for both girls and boys separately in the college campus itself. Hostel fees: Rs 30,000/- per academic year for food and accommodation, payable in advance. This is for the academic year 2011-12 and is subject to revision every year.
